Grandmother Annie L. Fitch Jones was a midwife in the State of Mississippi and Alabama. She delivered over five hundred babies in those states and some of her grandchildren. Grandmother Annie L. Fitch Jones was honored in the State of Mississippi along with a Mrs. Robertson who was also a midwife. They both were honored in the newspaper back in the 1940's

grandmother Annie was a very strong loving and caring person , who love taking care of people. The family always heard stories about grandmother Annie, how she would sometimes get payed with a chicken or a pig, after delivering a baby. Every one knew her , I had the pleasure of talking to the Coker family that had owned the party store in that area of Toomsuba Ms. they talked very highly of grandmother Annie. we came in contact with one of the babies that grandmother Annie delivered, she came to the family reunion in 2010. it was exciting to see some one she had brought into this world. grandmother Annie always prayed for her children and grandchildren and all of their children. her prayers back then has kept our family strong and fighting to move forward. I believe alot of us have her spirit, I thank God for grandmother Annie's prayers.
Joesph C. Jones, son of Edmond and Peggy Jackson Jones, was married and had 3children with first wife. she became ill, there was a young lady name Annie L. Fitch, who cared for her while she was ill. before pasting away, she ask Annie to married her husband and take care of him. later they were married, they were known as papa Joe and big mama Annie. they raised their 13 children in Toomsuba Mississippi. papa Joe always was the head of his house hold. he was a Preacher at Little Hope Baptist Church in Toomsuba Mississippi. Esther Jones Wallace, his daugther, use to tell how that when they were little and living in a 4 bedroom
house. she said that one room had a beautiful brass bed in it and the room was fix up, because when ever Preachers came to town, they would stay in that brass room. papa Joe, was also known to be a Entrepreneur, he also would pull his own teeth instead of going to the Dentist.

Army, was born in 1818, in NashCounty, NC, deceased; son of Ira Portis, who went from North Carolina toClarke County [Alabama] in 1818, and settled near Suggsville...[Bpn notes: Suggsville is a settlement in Clarke County named forWilliam Suggs who opened a general store there in 1814, where a P.O. wasestablished in 1824. Suggsville is about halfway between the Tombigbee Riverand the Alabma River. Clarke County was created (before the state ofAlabama) by the Mississippi Territorial Legislature in 1812, just east ofWashington County and a bit north of Mobile. The Alabama Territory wascreated in 1817 and the state of Alabama was created in 1819. Clarke Co, ALis now bordered on the north by Marengo Co, which is immediately east ofSumter County, where James Edward Poythress & James Speed Poythress movedwhen they came in 1853 from Mecklenburg Co, Virginia. I've long wonderedwhether Benjamin P.
